CSD Insider Newsletter: With the Right Recipe, Counseling Would Welcome More Cooks in the Kitchen
August 3 @ 10:00 am – 10:30 am
This week we’re highlighting LCSW Jennifer Mejia, a compassionate counselor and credentialed supervisor on the North side of Chicago who thrives on helping clients break through their fears, flaws, and day-to-day struggles. She coins her office as a “judgment-free zone” where patients can feel comfortable and encouraged to create change and think differently. She caters treatment plans to each particular patient to promote personal growth and a positive outlook.
Working with her team at Glenview Counseling, Jennifer’s client experience spans adolescents, adults, parent-child relationships, and couples’ therapy. She enjoys working with clients of multicultural backgrounds and says, “I have previous experience working with at-risk teens, children, and infants and have supported women of domestic violence in court hearings. I often implement motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my clinical approach.”
She treats diverse diagnoses including addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transition, guilt, shame, and self-esteem issues. She’s supervised, monitored, and evaluated mentorship programs and has conducted workshops on parenting, education and awareness, and professional development.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her three children, cooking, swimming, and spending time on long walks and in nature. She’s fluent in English and Spanish, earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and offers sessions and supervision in-person or via telehealth.
